Neurodivergent+ Creative Arts Organisation in Kent

MixMatched Neuroqueer!

This month we celebrated and explored Neurodivergent+ and LGBTQIA+ identity.

Neurogender/Neuroqueer/Gendervauge are terms that acknowledge that an individuals Neurodivergent+(Dyslexic, Dyspraxic, ADHD, Autistic, OCD, BPD, (other)) status and LGBTQIA+ identity can be inextricably linked. Another term that is sometimes used is ‘autgender’, when a person believes their Neurodivergent/Autistic experiences to interlink with the ways in which they perceive their gender identity (and vice versa!) – Neurogender can be an identity in and of itself, but there are also many different Neurogenders – many of them are not ‘exclusive’ to someone’s identity, meaning that people may feel connected to a number of them.

On this very special MixMatched Night we had a wonderful Mix of diverse talent – THANK-YOU SO MUCH EVERYONE WHO TOOK PART OR CAME TO WATCH – acts ranged from comedy, poignant speeches on self-identity, poetry, Avant-Guard music/sound pieces, and even a magic act!

We are so happy that so many people came forwards and felt safe at our night. AS well as our line-up we had five brave new acts sign up on the night!

If anyone would like to contact any of the performers, please contact us upon: mixmatched.sw@gmail.com

Performers:

  1. Emma Robdale – performing original comedy poetry upon her ‘intense fascination’ of insect… sex!
  2. Zoe G – Daring to try something new, Zoe smashed her first comedy set!
  3.  Adam Dorr – Now a seasoned MixMatched performer, performing another insightful comedy routine, inspired by family feuds!
  4. Ellen Jones – We were lucky enough for Ellen to share with us her interpretations spirituality, environment and goddess in her meditational rhetoric.
  5. Tom – Shared some of his own poetry upon life, living and strife.
  6. Miriam – eloquently gave a speech upon differing perspectives of gender, gender stereotypes and her own female identity.
  7.  Liohtan – Bravely spoke upon their own trials and tribulations in a very honest, heartfelt and moving speech.
  8. Chloe Lewer – Stole the stage with their first speech upon special interests and gender. Gave a punchy, and at points quite humorous performance.
  9. Echo – Another seasoned MixMatched performer! – Took to the stage and presented a number of poignant poetry pieces upon identity.
  10. Lilly – Traveling all the way from Nottingham, Lilly performed another ND+ poetry depicting a love affair between a stalactite and stalagmite.
  11. A surprise poet took to the stage to speak about her experiences with becoming disabled and new perspectives of seeing herself.
  12. Simon Kempthorne: second time MixMatched Performer, stole the stage with his everlasting list of original puns/dad jokes (some went down better than others!)
  13. Kat and Co: An Avant-garde sound inspired presentation of J.K Rowling’s ‘essay’, intending to point out its flaws, and demonstrate its irrelevance.
  14. Out of no-where, a ND+ magician sprung out of the audience to give a hilarious, completely invisible, magic act – complete with audience participation.

MixMatched Neuroqueer had such a diverse range of innovative, heart-felt, and whacky and inventive talent…. We look forward to re-grouping for the next night, October the 30th, for Halloween!
