Neurodivergent+ Creative Arts Organisation in Kent

Creative Writing, Performance and Confidence Building Workshop!

About this event

Sun, 29 May 2022 2.00-4.00

The Big Drum, 14 Rose Lane, Canterbury, CT1 2ST

For complete beginners and/or anyone who wants to build confidence as a writer and performer.

Like to write? Enjoy watching spoken word? Got ideas but not sure where to begin?

We are putting on this workshop for anyone who wants to build confidence in writing and performing, whether you’ve done it before or you’re a complete beginner.

The first hour will be spent coming up with new written material and developing ideas, whilst learning to ignore your inner critic. In the second hour, we will workshop your ideas on stage and bring your words to life in a supportive and relaxed environment.

The workshop will be led by Emma Robdale (writer and performer) and Holly McCulloch (dramatherapist and storyteller). They are also the hosts of the new, successful and neuro-divergent friendly spoken word nights in Canterbury.

How did the event go?

We had an absolutely wonderful turnout at the big drum. Participants first took part in a short creative writing exorcise upon important events (coinciding with the jubilee), before taking part the second part of the workshop, lead by Holly, where participants were encouraged to explore different ways of using body and voice upon the stage.
