MixMatched at Bandit Bazaar Zine Fair

Courtesy of Free Range (another neurodivergent+ friendly organisation and performance night in Canterbury!), MixMatched shared a table at Bandit Bazaar Zine festival at Floc Brewery in Canterbury, on the 5th of July- Amongst an astounding range of art, literature and politics, MixMatched presented three of its own zines….

Neuroqueer (by Emma Robdale)

Expanding upon LGBTQIA+ identities and terminology between interlinking Neurodivergent and Queer identity.

Sea Whisperers, ‘Every Shell Has Lived’ (A collection of Neurodivergent+ writers)

A Zine created after an all autistic creative writing exercise upon Minis bay Beach that focused upon the journey of shells washed up upon the beach.

Surreal Medieval Character Memes (Miriam)

A Zine featuring Miriam (MixMatched participant and performer) cartoon-like drawings of medieval art which she had characterized in the form of ‘modern’ memes.

Invisible Women Gallery 

Afterward the zine fair participants travelled to Margate for a MixMatched Social! – We supported Invisible Woman Gallery (Hosted by late diagnosed ‘Autistic’ Marian Armstrong, with the help of Neurodivergent Friends Thanet) – Invisible Woman gallery, at the Pie Factory, displayed the work of Autistic Female artists – two of which are MixMatched performers:

Emma Robdale – the gallery displayed her work upon Wombinescent pictures supporting body/genital positivity, and a number of smaller surreal animal artworks

Chloe Lewer – self-portrait encapsulating asexual gender identity.
