On the 20th of September, 2024, between 12.15-12.26 midday MixMatched founder Emma Robdale spoke with Dominic King on BBC Radio Kent about the collective, how it was started, and the importance of directly recognising Neurodivergent voice and performance.
Played before and after the interview were snippets of past performer’s work including:
Luner Bloomers Poetry
Monica Minott reading an extract of Nanny’s Pot which features in her collection Zion Roses.
Kevin Marman from his poem ‘Autistic Man’
Sarah Bowman from her performance.
And I’d like thank all the other individuals who permitted us to use parts of their performance at such short notice! The interview talks about how MixMatched came about, and how the term ‘Neurodivergent+’ is progressing into different spaces, and how multi-faceted Neurodivergent+ identity and needs are, and how it is important that ‘Neurodivergent difference’ isn’t typecast into meaning one thing… you need to listen to the experiences of a range of individuals.
We also plugged our upcoming two events! – Our Myths and Legends event… as well as our release of our Atypical Love collection at Margate bookie which is coming up in th next few weeks! 30th of September! 😀
