Access Guidelines: George and Heart,44 King Street Margate,CT9 1QE
The George and Heart is a short walk from the main CECIL SQUARE bus station. Walk to the far end of the bus stop (opposite side from the Clock Tower) and turn LEFT up the main road (HAWLEY STREET), just before a large T-Junction, Corner Right, will be The George and Heart.
If you’re walking from the clock tower head up MARINE GARDEN’S until you get to CECIL SQUARE. (follow the above directions from there)
If you’re walking from The Turner Museum head down THE PARADE, on the LEFT will be THE OLD KENT MARKET (Pink Building) head past it, then turn LEFT down KING STREET and walk until you get to a large crossroads, The George and Heart is just over the crossroads, CORNER RIGHT.
The George and Heart is two colours, the lower level is light salmon pink, the upper level is white. Before you get to the white-framed door you will walk through a beer garden area with several picnic tables.
Enter the pub through the pub’s front door, then head straight towards the stairs, turn right just before them, and you’ll see ‘The Nook’. The room is quiet/away from the rest of the pub. It has several small tables which we will likely push together.
The George and Heart is an accessible space/all ground floor access with no steps. There is one wheel-chair accessible toilet at the end of the main pub area.

The closest bus stop to Margate Arts Club is Warwick Road. You can catch the Loop or the 8A to this stop. If you are catching the bus to Margate town centre, you must change at Cecil Square.
If you are catching the train, the closest station is Margate, but you must then catch the 8A or the Loop to Warwick Road. You can catch the bus from Marine Terrace, which you can find by turning right at the roundabout then going straight ahead.
From Warwick Road, Margate Arts Club is just a short walk down Northdown Road (right if you are coming from Margate, Left from Ramsgate).
By Car: The closest car park is Harold Road Car Park. From there, turn right down Harold Road then right down Northdown Road to make it to Margate Arts Club.
How to Find us… Margate Arts Club can be found under the green shopfront titled Pearl, next to reflections. It is opposite the International Food Store. A wheelchair ramp is available for the entrance on request.
Toilets can be found down the corridor from the main hall towards the outside terrace, on the right. The toilets are at ground floor level and 60cm wide with handles.

Friends Meeting House, Via Main High Street either:
1) Head towards the Marlow Theatre (Street: The Friars) walk past the theatre, over the bridge, it is the first building on the left.
Or
2)Turn by The Beany Library (Street: Best Lane) at the end of the road turn left (Street: The Friars), Friends Meeting House will be on your right, just before the bridge to the Marlow Theatre.
It is a large mostly detached building with a large garden and driveway area, walk up to the main entrance and the door should be open. If it isn’t ring the bell and one of us will let you in! When inside turn right and their will be two arches. Our workshop is straight through the right archway. The Quiet room (called the Philcott room) is to the right, just before you get to the archways.
If you take the left archway, then turn left, a fully accessible toilet will be on your left, just around the corner.
The workshop room has one large central table with chairs situated around it.
The Mooring Cafe and bar, 5 water lane, Canterbury, ct1 2n1
The Mooring Café and Bar, Via Canterbury Main High Street:
Around the middle of Canterbury Main High Street is Sainsbury Local (one side of the street) and Paper Chase, teal coloured (other side of street). Here you want to turn down Stour Street, which on the side of Sainsbury’s Local (Sainsbury’s Local is on the corner of the street). Head 2-3 min down Stour street, past a historic building called The Marlow Kit. Immediately after this building (right) is a very small passage called Water Lane. There are only two buildings on Water Lane, the Mooring Café is the second one, green coloured, just before a bridge leading into a park.
The Mooring Café has two doors, the first one isn’t in use, so enter the second door, closest to the bridge. If you ask the bar, they have a ramp that can be used to get up a small step.
The Mooring Café is comprised of one large room, with a bar. As you enter the second door, on the left side will be the seating/audience area which is made up of single chairs, dining tables and sofas. To the right, by a large window overlooking the river, is the stage, and straight ahead is the bar. When inside it is all ground floor/flat access.
To the left of the bar is a small passage to the toilet – at its narrowest the passage is: 27 ½ inches/71cm – It is not a fully accessible toilet. (Picture below)
