On the 29th of June 2025 MixMatched Founder Emma Robdale, ran Zine Workshop ‘Intense Facinations’ for Neurodivergent Pride, which was run by NDFT (Neurodivergent Friends Thannet) at Turner Contemporary, Margate.
In this Workshop, there were a range of arts and crafts activities to choose from (such as painting a mask, or a miniature canvas). But the main activity was Zine Making. 3D Instructions were made and put up on the wall for all participants, and Dr Emma Robdale was also there to guide. Zine is short for ‘magazine’ and has become a cultural phenomenon in and of itself! – In this workshop participants were asked to design and create their 8 page zine – the topic was ‘intense fascinations’ (which was coined in Dr Emma Robdale’s research as a more encompassing alternative to ‘special interest’. The workshop was teaming! – With the table full at all times. Zines were made on a variety of topics, from self-help to gardening, to murder mystery!
It was lovely to be able to sit chat and craft in such a lovely Neurodivergent+ inclusive environment! – We were also able to tie up our ND+ pride flags outside and take some pics!
